This instrument, which weighs approximately 8 lbs. (3.6kg) is used to determine average CO2 levels in tank-stored beverages. The Zahm-Hartung Volume Meter was designed and the chart developed to make available to the brewer an instrument with which he might quickly and accurately determine the CO2 gas content of his beer at any point in process and, being so informed, could make adjustments to maintain a standard gas composition.
